A little col out this evening so I decided to try an experiment. Using Medallion brand "lamp oil" obtained from one of the giant retailers and a Coleman #21 tie-on mantle my 500CP pumped up to the red line produced about 60 fc measured at one foot from the mantle.

I am using a CEM DT-1301 light meter of recent manufacture. It is NOT a lab grade instrument nor was the test enviroment a lab, just pretty much non-reflective...

This is about the same reading I get from a new 26W GE CFL at the same distance.

I would expect much better results when I use the proper Britelyt mantle, but the Coleman seems to work fine in a pinch.

Does anyone have any experience with the Britelyt double-tie system? I'd like some input before I stock up.
