PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING SAFETY TIPS & OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE OPERATING YOUR LANTERN:

BEFORE YOU START: (REMOVE PLASTIC RINGS FROM TOP & BOTTOM OF GLOBE)

(CHECK #50 & #33, as routine maintenance, after use of lantern, or each time you add fuel or change mantle).  See this link for method of using Muffler mender.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR LANTERN BEFORE EVERY USE

 !! WASH OUT TANK (use water or Fuel) BEFORE USING !!

FOR YOUR SAFETY: All lanterns are shipped with the lantern in the “On “ position (check lantern.)

REMEMBER TO SET the knob to the “OFF” position BEFORE OPERATING the lantern.

! Each time you use your lantern check for leaks we do this with any product !

1.Watch Instructional Video or DVD, BEFORE lighting your lantern, as it provides proper lighting procedures.

2. Keep lantern on a STABLE surface.

3. Read your instructional packet, as it also provides instructional & safety information.

4. Light your lantern OUTDOORS.

5. Do not bend over lantern.  Do not touch top of lantern to remove hood (or replace hood), after/during operation. DO NOT TOUCH GLOBE OR HOOD, WHEN LANTERN IS LIT.

6. Use proper gloves (kitchen mitts are advised), in order to remove hood or top accessories, after/during use of lantern. Sufficient time will be needed, in order to allow the lantern to cool down, for removal of the hood.

7. Do not use near any flammable liquids or pressurized fuels, such as propane or butane.

Do not place lantern near flammable objects.  Pay attention to a sufficient distance to flammable items.  DO NOT SET ON FOREST FLOOR OR CLOSE TO ANY FLAMMABLE NATURAL DEBRIS

8. Do not use in small tents (under 5-man) with all fuels.

9. Do not used in CLOSED areas or indoors WITHOUT proper ventilation, in order to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, or depletion of oxygen. KEEP AWAY FROM FLAMMABLE MATERIALS, and....DO NOT LEAVE LANTERN UNATTENDED!!!!!!

10. If you are using the lantern, indoors, it is recommended that you provide adequate ventilation and use a carbon monoxide detector and smoke detector. These detectors are commonly used, in most households, as safety precautions, and have proven to save lives.

11. Do not leave operational lantern unattended.

12. KEEP CHILDREN AWAY from lantern and fuels at all times.

13. DO NOT FILL TANK, while lantern is in operation. Allow the lantern to cool down, before refilling the tank.  Release lantern pressure after operation.

14. DO NOT TOUCH top of lantern, in order to remove or replace hood, after/during operation. Allow lantern to cool thoroughly, before doing so, or use proper safety equipment.

15. DO NOT USE OXYGEN, from any source, in order to apply pressure to this lantern. Do not use liquid oxygen, or any gaseous fuels, such as propane, in order to fill this lantern. This lantern is for use with liquid fuels only, as described in the video and pamphlet.

16. Empty fuel from tank, when storing this lantern, if you do not intend to use your lantern within a five (5) month period. Keep stored, filled lantern, away from areas accessible to small children.

17. DO NOT REMOVE PART #126s (Heat Plate), DURING OPERATION OF THIS

LANTERN.

18. SUPERFLATE - Use of this accessory, is at the sole discretion of the user. Use Superflate with "pressure-release" EZ-Pump only. This version of the EZ-Pump (EZPR) is developed solely for use of the SuperFlate device (or standard CO2 devices). It can, however, also be used with a standard bicycle pump. * Use 12g Cartridges and under *

19. EZ-Pump (Standard Version) - Use of this accessory, is at the sole discretion of the user. This accessory, without pressure-release valve, is intended for the sole purpose of operation, with bicycle pump (standard).

20. EACH TIME YOU FILL THE LANTERN (or STOVE) WITH FUEL,  check the following:

A.. MANTLE:  Make sure there are no holes in the mantle. Replace, if there seems to be a problem with the mantle..

B. GLASS:  Make sure the glass is not broken, or needs to be cleaned off.

C. PARTS #33 and #50:   Make sure these parts are  tight,  and that the Part #33 is raised          high and not loose.

D. CHECK FOR LEAKS:   Part #10 (pump valve), preheater (#229), #149 (gas cap) and part #50 (where the needle, Part #68,  comes out).  You will need to pressurize the tank to look for leaks.

*Remember to always use a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors in the home. It is prudent to protect yourself from any potential haszards of using ANY fuel burning appliance in your home.***


MANTLE SAFETY TIPS:

When using any brand of cloth-style mantle…….

 1.Wash hands after using.  When handling mantles or fuel, avoid rubbing eyes or mouth.

  

2. When discarding broken mantle, or emptying fuel……..Dispose of fuel and mantles in proper container, as required by Local, State, or Federal standards.

3. When pre-burning new mantle……..Do not inhale direct fumes or smoke from mantle, during initial pre-burn.  “Pre-burning” new mantle should be performed OUTDOORS.

 NOTE:   Not all brands of mantles are “non-radioactive”, and can contain chemicals/materials that should be handled properly.   Proper use of mantles should be performed, with all brands, or types, of mantles, including those specified as “non-radioactive”.

STOVE SAFETY


(PLACE FRAME OVER STOVE BEFORE LIGHTING!!)

! Each time you use your stove check for leaks we do this with any product !

1. Light stove outdoors, as this stove emits a very large flame.

2. Do not use in closed space. Keep ventilation open, to

Prevent depletion of oxygen, and carbon monoxide Poisoning.

3. DO NOT LEAN OVER STOVE, during PREHEATING

Of Stove (throws large flame) & during COOKING PROCESS.

4. ALLOW STOVE TO COOL, before re-fueling.

5. RELEASE PRESSURE FROM STOVE, when not in use, or during re-fueling.

6. If transporting stove, with fuel in tank…….MAKE SURE Knob is at the “OFF” position, and that the BLEEDER VALVE (on gauge) is TIGHT.

7. ALWAYS keep the stove, & fuel OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN!!

8. FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE -- Clean the vaporizer with alcohol or carburetor cleaner, in stove, after every 5 fill-ups. Hint: Add carburetor cleaner to fuel, in order to maintain a clean, operating stove unit.
